I’m looking at options for traveling from Rio de Janeiro to Sao Paulo and noticed that some services offer long-distance taxi or private transfer rides between the cities. Has anyone actually taken a taxi for this route? I’m curious how comfortable the trip is and whether drivers usually make stops along the way during such a long ride.

Another thing I’m trying to understand is how pricing usually works for a taxi or private transfer from Rio de Janeiro to Sao Paulo. Since the distance is around 430 km and the journey can take about 5–6 hours by car, do most services offer a fixed price when you book in advance, or does the final cost depend on traffic and travel time during the trip?

When exactly are you planning to go? I was traveling around Brazil in the summer and also had one day to travel from Rio de Janeiro to Sao Paulo. I looked at many options, namely the bus and the train, but I realized that I would hardly be able to get there comfortably. So I decided to find a transfer from Rio to Sao Paulo on GetTransfer and booked it the day before the trip. The price was fixed and I knew it in advance, I didn’t have to pay extra for this trip later. Of course, we stopped in some places, for example in Paraty town and Campos do Jordao mountain resort and they are really beautiful, I recommend going there too. I indicated these stops in advance, during the booking, so it was already included in the price.
